Ballet
At the beginning of 1992 Marlies Vonk became fascinated by ballet and
modern dance. During many months she studied and skeched
moving figures of the classical trained dancers at some of the world’s
top ballet companies such as the famous Martha Graham Ballet Company in
New York and the renowned Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam.
With special permission of Artistic Director Jiri Kylián she attended
many rehearsals and performances of the celebrated Dutch Dance Theatre
Group.
An unique source of inspiration that resulted in an impressive collection
of expressive paintings, watercolors and stone prints (handmade by artist)
and … more than ten ballet-art-exhibitions in Europe and U.S.A.
It also lead to a splendid commission by
AT&T Network Systems
(Lucent - sponsor of the Dutch Dance Theatre Group)
to produce a series of five
life-size-oil-paintings
for their
new office building in Leidschendam – The Netherlands.
